Pulled over for the first time - HIDs
This is only the third time I have been pulled over in my LIFE...first with the S (bought Feb. '01):
Driving North on Route 1 near Fredericksburg, Virginia, I see a State Tropper in front of my car and two other vehicles. We approach and pass through a school zone, and the trooper slows well below the speed limit, allowing me to pass. I turn at the next intersection and he falls in behind me - he is on the radio. He follows my left turn, and we travel 2 miles per hour under the speed limit for about a mile before he turns on his lights and siren (note he waited until AFTER we had passed two neighborhood turn-ins and now the only option was to pull off on the shoulder in the dirt!!!!!)
Asks for license and registration. While I procure these, he walks to the front of the car and looks (I presume for my license plate expiration and inspection info)...I hand him my documents and he says "What's up with those headlights?"
"They are HID headlights, Trooper first class"
"Did they come with the car or you put 'em on?"
"Came with the car..."
"Well, it seemed like you were flashing your brights quite a bit behind me, and the lights are almost blue. I'm not having any of that on MY road."
I informed him I had seen folks chatting about this on the internet, that the lights were aimed in such a way as to be distracting when you are following and that "I usually avoid that problem by passing anyone in front of me."
FINALLY he laughs "Yup, in this kitten I bet you could do just that!"
Hands me my license and reg., and tells me to have a nice day!

I have to agree with SpaceNeedle. . . Our HIDs may be annoying, I can't invision many police officers in the NY/NJ metro area that would attempt cite someone for them. . . There are too many Lexus, Acura, MB, BMW, Infiniti, etc drivers with HIDs, thus making the S2000's lights closer to the norm. Though, our lights (because of the sharp cut off) tend to appear brighter and more "high-beam like" than most cars with HIDs. . .
I always have people flashing their brights at me!
Driving up California on 5, I had sooooo many people flash or leave on their brights on behind me as I pass them up!
I actually went to a Honda dealer to see if the lights were aligned correctly, they came back and said "they're perfect"!
I'm just waiting for the day to get pulled over for the HIDs.
Because of the cut-off pattern, our HIDs do appear as if we were flashing our high beams on and off as the car bounces up and down.

Yep, I had several people flash their brights at me b/c of my HIDs.
One time, someone flashed their brights at me going the opposite direction and I just ignored them. 1/4 mile down the road was two cops pointing their radar gun at me. Duh... Good thing I was going the speed limit. I thought for sure they were going to pull me over b/c of the lights or no front license plate. I was surprised they didn't pull me over, since I was the only car traveling that way.
So from now on, if someone flashes their lights at me, i'm going to slow down, even if I think it's b/c of the HIDs.

I have had a few complaints about the "flashing" problem, but only from people in front of me in my lane.
I have not, as yet, had anybody ever hit me with brights on coming. I dont even think they can see your lights much unless they arent adjusted properly.
I was in a performance shop last week and watched a person getting blue turn indicator lights put in. The installer told the guy that they were illegal, but he still sold them anyway.
That kind of stuff is what I think gets Officer Bob interested in us!
