Powdered Graphite. It's available in all auto parts stores.

No need for a service appointment. You should keep this on hand anyway for things like lubing areas where wet lub won't do

Never use. EVER use something like WD40 or wet solutions on your key locks. Only use the graphite. In fact a small squirt of this prior to the cold season(if your a Winter driver) will prevent lock freeze. Just place a small puff of this in the ignition hole, work the key for a series of motions and your good to go !
Thanks I'll give the powdered graphite thing a try before i take it to the dealership. I just don't understand why after 7k miles I would need to do this for my S but my integra with over 150k miles has never needed it.

BTW...I found this thread. Add your name to the list if you are also experiencing this problem.

Actually if you look at the other thread I posted a link to, there are '02 and '03 owners too. And its not something you can just run out and check. For me it happens maybe once a week and I drive it 6-7 days per week so I wouldn't be able to replicate it in front of someone if I wanted to unless I got lucky.

So I tried the powdered graphite thing. I sprayed it down with the air hose first to blast out any loose debris and put some graphite in there. I guess we'll know in a week or so if this graphite fixes it.

Powdered graphite is okay for door and trunk locks, but, because it's an electrical conductor, I wouldn't use it around electrical circuits.

Yes, I started a thread in "Tell Honda" quite some time ago. For those that have this problem, please post in the following thread and I'll add your name to the list:

oh jeez, not again.

my '93 Prelude has done that nearly forever.. if you twist the key backwards while sliding it out it never does it.. or tap on the ignition switch with your finger after the key is out.

I'd be pretty choked if my -new- car did this..
