Default Purchase price opinions needed!

Hey guys, I'm looking at an a 2002 s2000 thats yellow on black with 40k on the clock. Here is the email the seller wrote back to me. What would you feel comfortable paying for this?

I just bought the car in September and put maybe 1500 miles on the car, and decided I didn't need the extra payment right now. The car is basically perfect in my opinion. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

1)Number of owners?
I'm the 2nd I think.
2) Clean title?
Yes
3) Any lien against the title?
Yes
4) any paint or body work?
I think the front bumper was painted by the previous owner, but I'm not sure.
5) clean carfax?
I'm not sure... the vin number is up on ebay if you want to check it.
6) Condition of exterior paint and interior leather?
Paint seems perfect to me, except for the one door edge. Interior leather is absolutely mint.
7) Any curb rash?
No curb rash at all.
8) Tire life?
When I bought it back in september, the dealer put brand new tires on the rear. I have maybe 1000 miles on them. The fronts are pretty decent too.
9) Condition of top and rear window?
Top is perfect along with the rear window
10) Clutch life?
Clutch seems in great shape, no slipping.
11) Any issues with the gear box?
None
12) Ever seen a winter?
No
13) Do you have the OEM rims as well?
No, just the ASA Revolution 17"
14) Throwing any fault codes?
Nope
15) Mileage as of today?
40,355
16) any issues with the suspension?
Suspension seems great. One of the best handling cars I have driven in a while. It has the UK spec alignment on it.
17) Is the suspension stock? I thought I saw a TEIN sticker?
It has Tein S-Tech springs

Mods: Alpine Head Unit w/ iPod, K&N Intake, Neuspeed Exhaust, Neuspeed Rear Lower Brace, Neuspeed Front Lower Brace, Neuspeed Strut Tower Bar, ASA Revolution 17" Wheels, Neuspeed battery tiedown, Neuspeed Oil cap, and Neuspeed Front Grille Mesh.

As you are the one paying for it make sure it fits your budget.
Prices vary by location and are usually higher in the spring.

I doubt you'll be able to "go lower because he has mods."

These mods aren't very aggressive and not likely to reduce the value of the car.

Keep in mind that the seller just bought the car recently. He's unlikely to take a bath to get out of it.

I would ask for lots of pictures. I have a hard time believing any AP1 with 40k miles on it has "mint" leather. See it for yourself.

The seller is avoiding the accident related questions. Usually when people are beating around the bush the way he does, they know the car has a bad accident report and I bet this car has been a victim of front end collision.

Here is wholesale dealer auction pricing if it gives you a rough idea of what dealers are buying S2000's for. They typically turn around and flip them with $1,000 ~ profit.

04/03/09 NEVADA Lease $10,600 41,071 Avg BLACK 4G 6 Yes
03/25/09 BUTLER Regular $12,100 46,468 Above YELLOW 4G 6 Yes
04/10/09 MANHEIM Regular $10,250 47,179 Avg SILVER 4G 6 Yes
03/27/09 NEVADA Lease $12,600 47,574 Above SILVER 4G 6 No

This guy may not be willing to take a bath on the car according to the above poster , but in this economy plenty of people are, move on.

The owner isn't going to give the car away.
