Default pushing the clutch pedal only a half way

My friend told me that he never step on the clutch pedal all the way in.
He only pushes the pedal about half-way.

and I always push in all the way to stay in safe side.

Do you think his technique is better for fast shifting?

Also, He never complained about his 04 delay valve, Since he shifts faster, there's less overlapping of engaging clutch and the gas.
(I took my delay valve out..)

My clutch also engages only about halfway down and it's brand new on my '01. I try to depress all the way...sometimes I find myself not going down all the way. The times I have noticed that I have shifted not all the way down, the car reacts normal, as if I had depressed the clutch fully. Never smelled anything bad, either. I'm not endorsing doing this, but neither rejecting it.

It's been posted here many times that you can shift without using the clutch at all. However, this requires near PERFECT REV-MATCHING. If it's not perfect, you risk damaging stuff. This applies to using the clutch only "1/2 way". You've been lucky so far. One day, you will be off just a bit and then "CRRRUUNNCH" and something bad will happen. Sure, it can be done, but why risk it? It is never a good idea to shift while some or all power is being transfered through the clutch. It may be fun to play with fire, but you'll get burnt one day.

I'm kinda curious as well as I've usually been in the habbit of shifting with the clutch pedal about half way down.

So for shifts 1-6 its best to push the pedal all the way to the floor? For going from first to second I usually do push the clutch just about to the floor, but the shifts from 2nd to third and higher are so smooth its usually easy to do with half of the pedal depressed.

Perhaps its just been lazy but I haven't been in the habit of doing this with my past 2 cars. I just got the s2k though so I can begin changing my habits.

What kind of damage are you risking doing? I'm trying to understand it mechanically. Forgive my ignorance . . .
