Default PWT = No HID...

After enjoying a wonderful weekend in the sun, skiing, wakeboarding and just plain laying around being lazy, I was leading the caravan home and I discovered something...
Predominantly poor redneck towns sure have allot of people that don't like HID. I am thinking this could be because of the lack of cars produced within the last decade that are registered in such towns. I must have been flashed two dozen times while driving through the three towns and along the two-way road in-between. I even had a few cars coming head on kinda do this swerving, flashing and honking maneuver. Very interesting. I am sure if I could see inside these cars, the 13 children would all be steadying themselves on their paws gun rack while their maw screamed in-coherent expletives through her 6 whole teef about city slickers.....

Their old pickups are lucky if they even have headlights, much less HIDs. Hell, some of 'em are probably old enough to be 6-volt systems.

I wonder if all the BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus and Infinity drivers out there have the same problem? You would think that people would get used to the idea with so many cars out there with HID's... Is there something about the S2000 lights that are different, or is it possible that there are that many ingnorant folks out there asking themselves why every 10th or so car has their bright lights on...

My guess is that it has more to do with the type of road. Two lane road, especialy hilly and uneven, in combination with the S2000s firm suspension and the zenon effect makes it look like you are trying to blind traffic or flashing your brights everytime you go over a bump.

I live in a suburb of Chicago and there is one road (Army Trail from Dunham to 25) that is very West Virginia. Hilly and uneven, though it was just repaved, I get flashed there about 3 times every night. As this is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Chicago, I'd guess it has more to do with the S2000 and the road than the kids that are at home with the nanny or in boarding school in Switzerland.

I currently don't have an S2000 but at night time I can spot one from typically over a 1/2 mile away. The HID's on the S2000 are definently the brightest I've ever seen on a factory car. I have a friend with a BMW and know some people with Lexus's and I can definenetly tell that their HID just isn't quite as bright as an S2000's . Another problem might be the lack of auto-leveling which comes in many luxury cars with HID(BMW, Merc, Audi to name a few).

Got to love those HID's though. Everyone sure is in a hurry to get the hell out of my way. I upgraded my highbeams for even a brighter look. I feel sorry for the poor fellow who flashes me.

On the 'bright side' of things (lol), they are great for spotting the wild animals on the move, the eyes glow like I never seen before. Gives me a chance to slow down to insure Mr. Moose does not hitch a ride unexpectantly.

Was driving through those hilly and winding roads in CT last weekend. Lots of light flashes from oncoming traffic. One guy in a BMW SUV flashed me, so I flash back, as always to show that I am not being inconsiderate and driving along with the high beams. Then he leaves his high beams on, (was close to going past me and this was totally unnecessary), so I reacted in turn. Childish but jeesshh.

This was not a poor section of CT.

Perhaps people are jealous of the lights????

Last night I also had 3 flashes on the way home from Livermore on 84. The most surprising thing i've ever had happen was when I was on a 2 way road behind a guy. He slammed on his brakes for some reason then started moving again. I just thought he was looking for his turn. Then a few minutes later, he slams on his brakes and completely stops in the middle of the road and starts to get out of his car waving his fist. I then put 2 & 2 together and realize he probably thinks its me flashing him. I stop, turn on my brights, then he gets back in and drives a bit then pulls out of my way. I think he stopped from getting all the way out when I flashed him to show him my brights were not on.

The other day I had my GF drive my stook while drove the prelude. When the stook is far behind, the mask on the left light gives a very bright purple flash whenever it hits a bump. It can be quite alarming to people being followed and head on traffic. I totally understand why they are flashing now. But that doesnt mean i'm going to do anything about it..
