Hello everyone - just got my brand new S2K two days ago. My previous car was a Civic Si, so I guess I have moved up several notches on the scale of VTEC hiearchy!

I just had a very basic question to start with - I have noticed that my engine idles at 1000 rpm. Is this normal? In my civic 400-500 rpm was the normal idle so I am just concerned.

Thanks!

During a cold day, it could also idle as high as 2000RPM. I don't think I've seen anything higher than that.

Congrats on your new car. Welcome to the family!

Actually, mine has a smidget over 800 miles on it and it idles at 750 RPM when nice and warm.

750? how did you check it, only the tacho is in 100's, are you assuming 750 as it flicks between 700 / 800?

Headlights on, idle fluctuates between 900-1000 rpm
Headlights off, idle fluctuates between 800-900 rpm

At idle, I have experienced the idle will drop just below 800 for a brief moment after a slight tap on the gas pedal but it comes right back up to normal.
