Question about Leasing
[QUOTE=DrDre1443,Jul 8 2005, 12:59 PM]i understand if there are advertised money factors, but they ARE negotiable, unless advertised stragith from the company.
Like 0% or 1.9% financing for 60 months on all so and so......
THOSE are non-negotiable.
but unless you specifically see a lease offer on paper with everything written down, like a special, the factor is always up to the finance manager.

I kind of have a problem with the idea of a car as a "depreciating asset." For many Americans, it's not an asset at all but a liability: they owe more than they can get for the "asset." Hence the industry term, "upside-down."
I think Suze Orman's arguement against leasing was aimed at those who turn it in after three years and put themselves back on the steep end of the depreciation curve. There's nothing wrong with that if you knowingly decide to pay the price, but many are unsophisticated and don't understand. I think the thing to keep in mind when reading her advice is that she's speaking to the public at large, not car enthusiasts, and close to 50% of American households have zero net worth.
