Question about regular gas
Well it officially blows to live in GA now. For the past two weeks, due to the fake hurricane, we have only been able to have regular gas at our stations. On top of that there is a 2 hour line just to fill up. + maybe 1 out of 10 stations are receiving gas.
The car on regular gas feels like I'm hauling around a red headed fat chick. Only there isn't one thank god.
My questions:
1) Does regular lose a good bit of performance?
2) Will I need to reset the ECU if and when we get premium again?
3) Am i hurting the car at all on regular? What about at full throttle?
This is very depressing. Gotta love GA and their quality management.

The car will adjust for 87 octane. There isn't anything wrong with using it. A good buddy of mine has been using it for the past 2 or so years. The only downside to using it, is you will be down on power.
I run mine on regular all the time. You will not notice the difference unless you go to the drag strip or track. And that difference will be minor.
Remember octane is not power it only controls the ignition point. The power is in the compression and tune of the engine. Higher octane only reduces the chance of predetonation(sp)
I have rung mine out a few times and no pinging at all. Regular around here is 89. Most stations have 89-91-93 octane even wally world.

Similar thread was started a day or so ago... I just flat out don't like the skimping on octane... I would find a race shop that sells 5 gallon cans of 100 octane UNLEADED racing gas and add about two or three gallons to a tank full... I used to kick up the octane of pump gas with toulane and or acetone when I had my grand national but then I learned how to replace head gaskets too which is why I am kind of an octane junkie these days... not sure I would care to go the home brew octane route with my s2k... racing gas is the way to go... it smells too cool.
Premium burns slower than regular allowing for higher compression and higher boost engines to complete their cycles before fully igniting. If you use regular until the crisis is over (which I hope is soon for you guys) you should be fine, especially if you stay away from WOT and VTEC. However if you drive like it's a GP all the time, or stay in 3rd on the highway, expect to see detonation which results in bent rods, spun bearings, and other bad stuff. ie. lots of money in repairs.
Good luck!
91-93 is great, higher octane won't be fully burned, especially during street use, and cause injector backups and cost you a lot of money.
