Default question about RIO YELLOW PEARL

Last summer out of spite with the stock silver color I repainted my Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R to RIO YELLOW PEARL. At first I was ecstatic with the color, but a month later began to question its exclusivity. Compared to other yellows especially the yellow used on other sportbikes it looks really dark and dirty in comparison, even when it's clean.

I wish I could find another RIO YELLOW PEARL S2K to park beside so that I could compare. My question is would waxing or polishing the paint make it appear brighter? My reason for asking this is because whenever I wash/hose down the bike, the yellow areas that are wet look much brighter than the dry areas. The dry areas just appear to look 'dirty'. Or is this the same for all RIO YELLOW paint owners? Please HELP!

You did put a clear coat on it right? Mine is super shiney and never had a dull looking spot. The way the car is painted is special though. The pearl is actually in the clear coat. If you just paint the base yellow and clearcoat it without the pearl, I would imagine it would look darker.

Rio yellow is a darker shade than Spa yellow, with a bit of a reddish tint. May look better if you zaino it.

Rio Yellow is darker than Spa, yes, but it also sparkles in a way few factory paints do. I like the color a lot.

Are you in Alaska? Maybe you should wait until summer when there's more sunlight.

ha! i'm not riding as of now for another 2-3 months. the second picture with the s2k in the foreground, looks very similar to my bike in the shade.

i guess then that it is just the charactersitic of this color. wish it were more like suzuki yellow though..

The s2000 in the foreground has the MY00-03 headlights which means it should be Spa Yellow Pearl not Rio

Different lighting and angles make it look like different shades of yellow. This color may look different on you bike because smaller surface with more angles. Think about the difference between a paint swatch and actual color on walls.
