Ok, do you guys get a lot of people trying to race you on the streets? Seems like the S would draw a lot of attention. To be honest if I have to deal with every kid with a CAI trying to trace I think I'll go insane. I want a car I can have fun with and open up a bit, but if every light I got guys trying to drag me that will get OLD fast as I DO NOT street race. Please tell me honestly if that is the case just so I can be aware and prepared and aware of it as an issue.

Yeah, 330ci bimmers are everywhere which is nice cause I don't have everybody running me down although it happens enough as it is. It isn't even that fast. I don't drive a freaking M3 for God's sake!?

It has not really been a problem. Every once in a while, but its easy to ignore.

murgen -

there is no question that there is an 'increased' response by the racer crowd to the S here in socal. but in my experience, that is quite nice. i have had 2 instances where a riced civic flies by me on the highway doing 90 to show me how fast his car is ... only to have the cops drag him down a couple miles ahead. a very nice feature for a speeder like me! in fact, one time i had a pal in the car, and i said "watch, i bet this bonehead gets pulled over, all b/c he has to show me my honda isn't the fastest" , and sure enough!

it's like having camoflauge on!

LOL, Must have grenaded on him. I've seen some e46 M3s on the side of the road myself. That engine seems to be flawed, but since BMW gives a 100k warranty on it now I'd buy one if I could afford it.

Glad to hear it isn't a drag strip at every light/night in the S.

It's happened to me several times since I acquired the car in May. I've decided to have a bit of fun with them and just point forward as to say" Let's get it on" and then I get into the throttle for about ONE second and watch them take off like a banshee. I've even had one guy in a Mustang GT try it 3 times before he got the message that he was being toyed with. Street racing just doesn't interest me at all.

Boit that's a pretty good trick. Why didn't I think of that? I just pretend that I am busy doing something else, which is usually singing to my music and enjoying the scenery.

I also get the occasional guy who wants to hit on me, so I'll just smile politely and go back to singing to my music and enjoying the scenery. Works like a charm~!

I did that with an Accord that was riced. He was next to me at a light and kept glancing over and revving his engine. When the light changed I made like I was going to run, but eased off the clutch as he dumped his and nailed it. Unfortunately for him he didn't see the local cop sitting a block ahead with radar on.

One thing I do NOT do is street race.

My problem is I can only sing with the top and windows up. If anyone hears me sing they laugh, then run.
