A question about using 4 jack stands
I am planning to put my car up on 4 jack stands soon and I was wondering if order mattered. Such as start with the rear first, and then the front or vice versa.
Also, when taking the car down from 4 jack stands, is there an order there too?
Thanks

Put the front up first - this way you can use your parking brake to hold the rear in place. You would also have major clearance issues with the front bumper when the rear is up in the air.
Put the rear down first as well and make sure the parking brake is set.

If your car is lowered or your floor jack can't get under the car you will have to raise the side of the car.
I do this by using my scissor jack and then sliding the floor jack to the central jacking point in the front. You have to remember to lower the car on to the scissor jack when coming down though....
Although I just bought a new jack and can get under the car without raising the side!!

It fits under the front bumper of the S2000 by a hair!!
Harbor Freight has an Aluminum jack that they just released for a really cheap price - I haven't used one on the S2000, so I don't know if it fits all the way under to the central front jacking point or not - check it out at

However you can buy two $2 concrete 1'x1' stepping stones at Home Depot to pull the front of your S onto before jacking it up if your car is lowered.
Also: Be careful with the Ebrake if your garage is carpeted, like mine. Floor jack wheels dont like to roll on carpet ( I learned this the HARD WAY with my Accord and put the jack through the radiator..I wasnt under it luckily...

Being the woodworker that I am, I made two ramps out of 2 x 10s. I cut them about 20" long and screwed them together so they were 4" thick. Then a simple angle cut so the tires are going up a ramp and not onto a 4" step. I place these in the driveway, run the front tires up on them and then put wheel chocks behind the rears. I use the ramps to save me the time from having to jack from the side just to get the jack under the car. At this point even with my low spoiler I'm able to get the jack under the car for the center front jacking point. So I do front first then the back. I almost never use the side jacking points!
I just saw the Harbor Freight Aluminum jack but I would still need the wood blocks because my spoiler is very low. However, that jack would be so much nicer than the huge heavy Sears model I use now....
