Default Question on alignment and warranty

I have had my steering wheel off to the left a bit ever since I have picked up my car when brand new...annoying but not earth shattering - it has been more pronounced i think with snow tires...

Do you think the steering is out of alignment or the steering wheel itself was not put on properly. The difference is $70. A dealership said the car has a warranty for the former that runs out after 1 year/12 miles (first I have heard of this, but i can see why it would be shorter than the regular warranty). Has anyone had their steering wheel off of center a bit right when they got there car? My car is a year and a half old with 16 grand on the odometer....

I dont really have an answer, but at 16,000 I would probably get the alignment done and then if its not corrected have the dealership do the wheel warranty work. If that makes sense, will the alignment get the wheel centered even if it is off due to installation??

Anyways at some point around 15,000 I plan to get mine cheked to try to prolong tire life and make sure that the original factory specs are still set.

Thanks for the response -

I made an appointment to get the alignment done - we will see if that corrects it...

Even if it doesn't and they have to adjust the steering wheel, I'm sure they wouldn't tell me...why would they?

I dunno, it doesn't feel like there is an alignment problem - no pull under acceleration or anything. But you make a good point - I should get the alignment done anyway...my S02's where getting uneven wear...

Can anyone confirm the warranty claim of 1 year/12 months about alignments?

Well certain things are in the "just fix it" catagory and this is usually true in the first 1/12k. After that they will allow for "normal wear and tear" For example if you wore out your brake pads in the first 12K, they would likely replace them under warranty even though those are not warranty items, but common sense says they should get past 12K miles. (well maybe on this car that's not the best example but I think you get my drift)
