Default Question for owners that purchased new

Did your s2000 originally sell for sticker price or at a dealer premium above sticker? If sold at a premium was this due to the region such as Florida, California etc or was this nationwide?

Also, were there ever any dealer incentives offered to help close out 2003 ap1's when the 2004's launched?

Bought mine in Oct 1999 for $6.5k over MSRP in NorCal. Every other dealer at the time were asking $10k over. Would I do it again. Yes. Still have the car.

I bought my 2004 S2000 in April of 2004. If I recall, not every Honda dealer sold them.....the dealer had to be at or above a certain annual sales volume. The dealer where I bought mine had 2 in stock. The one I bought had several dealer installed options.....front and rear spoilers, side strakes, headrest speakers and LoJack. Took a few days of negotiation, but I drove away just about at sticker price, with all the dealer options included. I thought that was great deal, at the time.

My S was the 2nd worst automobile negotiation I have ever been a part of, but I still have, and love, the car. It had 4 miles on it on the showroom floor. I asked if I could test drive it. The salesman said they only allowed serious buyers get behind the wheel. I told him that if I want the car I'll drive it home. I'm still not sure if that was a great move on his part or a bad one, challenging me like that. But in the end, I way overpaid for the car, list + + and got taken to the cleaners on my trade in. But nearly 183k miles later I am still loving it every time I drive it.

Prices paid for possessions are like water under the bridge. The fact that you are still enjoying the car to this day, and that you have been doing so for about as long as is possible makes for an experience that is likely to be matched by few. Money very well spent in my mind. I find the balancing act of saving for tomorrow with spending for today to be highly challenging at times when bearing in mind that my father died when he was just 52. Being able to log a long-term positive experience in the books rates quite highly with me.

My first S, which I no longer have, I bought for $3500 off sticker without even breaking a sweat. Purchased it from the showroom floor in San Diego in early 2008. By the time the 08’s and 09’s were out, interest had waned in these cars and dealers were happy to cut a deal to move them. Honestly no one really cared about the cars by the ninth year of availability. As an interesting aside, CRs were available for a healthy discount as well. It seemed that the CRs sat even longer as they were “less appealing” at the time.

Bought our S2000 the weekend they were released in the USA, Sept. 1999. I was on the waiting list and was the first one called. I paid sticker, not over (this in Northern California OOS2K01S4) but I had to take all the add-ons at full retail also. At first, they told me I couldn't test drive it, but I told them I wasn't buying it unless I could, so they relented. (Did 113 MPH on the test drive). The salesman said it was the largest commission he had ever made on a Honda. Sold it eleven years later, 65K miles and bone stock, I think for $14K.

I actually leased a new 2005 and then handed it back to Honda for a new 2008, also a lease deal. Honda was offering very attractive lease incentives both times which I couldn't pass up.
In fact, that was the only way I could afford to drive a new S2000. I eventually paid off the 2008 with a very low car loan rate from a workplace credit union.
I never tallied up the figures I eventually paid for this acquisition but I believe it was very fair in the long run.
Best thing - I still have it and enjoy every minute I'm on the road!
