If you have a winch then yes it's pretty easy to do it with one person. If you don't have a winch then taking it off/putting it on by yourself is not recommended. I know because I've done it once before. The weight really isn't a problem(i.e. it's only 44lbs), but the bulk is a real pain. You don't want to take the risk that you'll drop your HT on the floor or worse drop the HT on your car. I personally will never take my HT off again without either a winch or someone to help me it's just not worth it...
You don't really want to be taking it off yourself, it can be lifted by one person without too much trouble but the size of the thing makes this difficult, and the only way of carrying is by using the lip below the glass (not good). Either use a winch or get someone to help, it's not worth putting a dent on your car for.

okay, thanks.

yeah, i can imagine getting the HT off by myself, and while I trying to set it down or something, the thing just heads for the ground and just because of the mass, i can't stop it from falling and it dings the ground or worse yet the car..

might try that cool winch setup.

too bad there aren't any home depots here in Tokyo.

Dammit Bass, I want to see your '04 S with a GPW HT. I don't know if you remember but I commented on this earlier and you told me how the black would be easier to sell if it came down to it plus you preferred the "mismatch" look. I just think is would be a hell-a-of-lot cleaner if you had the white top but it's your so that's the last of that. It's just that an '04 GPW S2K with white hardtop so reminds me of a clean looking RX-7. I prefer the close-up shot you have coming from the passenger-side quarter panel.

Hey PhuD, two words, "Love it!". That looks so sweet to me right there. Do you think an OEM front lip would improve anything or just leave as is?

Yep Bass, that's the one. I can't blame you if you got a killer deal like that. Haven't seen an '04 with a white HT but willing to bet it probably looks the best out of all the colors (Sorry PhuD ).
