question re CR
Y'all,
Noob question about CR relative to non-CR.
I have read all the specs compared to non-CR so I have an understanding of the increased turn in and suspension upgrades among other items.
My question, since I am not an engineer or a racer, is how this translates to the street (not the track).
Is it easier to drive? Can you push more around corners and entrance ramps without the tail wagging? Is it more stable in rain? etc. etc.
This is a curiosity question for me and relates to my desire to understand race technology better.
Thanks alot.

Yes its the same on the track as in the street better suspension and tires. So to break it down it can go into and out of a turn faster and has much better grip due to the upgraded tires. Now if u had a regular S than u could upgrade the tires and the suspension. The CR has better tires, suspension all around, and the different body kit to "help with areo to go faster" also different wheels and interior the seats are made of suede material to hold u better in the seat when going fast. And i think that the gearing is shorter and that the steering is a little different but don't hold me to that. If there are any CR owners near by to u have one of them give u a ride im sure that they would not mind. Than ride in a normal S so u really can see the difference. It's night and day trust me i did not like the S2000 at first than i was just like oh it's ok compared to my evo at the time untill i drove a CR than i was like dam i have to get one. Hope this helps. Also just a heads up i really have tryed to make the CR loose control or spin out in turns and the rain and trust me its hard those tires are so sticky
If you're not pushing the car to the limits at the track I think you would be better off with a regular s2k. It's still going to be fun to drive and handle great. Without tracking driving you won't be able to pick out the difference between the 2 cars IMHO.
Best thing you can do is to test drive them back to back.

Going from my 06 (Which I thought was PERFECT) to my 08CR, really was a night and day difference. You don't immediately realize it but after you drive, everything is so much stiffer, and hanging at speeds around corners that weren't as comfortable in the regular S are noticeable. Every now and then I fly through some curvy portions of the interstate, speeds drop down to 50 mph, generally I do 65-70 and feel that's far enough to push and feel comfortable, well I was doing 85mph with the CR and it felt as if I were going 30mph around the curves. Absolute joy in every way.

Very interesting info, in everyday driving, I didn't think there would be that much of a difference. Too bad they don't sell the CR here in Canada, otherwise I would take one out for a test drive.
Dont they also have extra chassis beefing in the rear, due to the convertible delete?
I think stock s2k's have negative downforce - they actually 'lift' so if you go fast enough, the back of the car will actually lift off the ground (obviously, way faster than a stock S can go..) The CR makes it more aerodynamically stable - with a big fugging ugly wing (IMO). There must be a better solution that puts downforce on the butt
