The ride can be somewhere between harsh and comfortable - it really depends more on the road conditions. Rough surfaces = rough ride in a fairly stiff suspension car.

my thoughts...

at 20, you should really think this through. here are my reasons:

1) insurance is going to rape you. because of your age, i anticipate you paying $2-3k per year for insurance alone.

2) car payments while you're in college is the last thing you really need. you've got rent, tuition... you don't want to burden yourself financially. it just adds to the stress of school.

3) maintenance costs adds up quick. cleaning gunk, oil changes, and TIRES. the S02 are amazing tires, but they wear rather fast. i'd say they'll give at most 15k miles. a brand new set will run you $6-800 depending where you go.

4) trunk space is not bad, but when u need to move big items, you better be able to count on some buddies if this turns out to be your only vehicle.

but heck, if you think you can swing the costs of ownership and maintenance, then i'd say go for it! the s2000 is simply an amazing car.

I disagree with the above post. Do it while you are young and can afford to not afford it.

You guys threw out all the things I wanted to hear about the S2000. It is a fun car to drive -- period. I'll have to test drive that pup soon. It sounds like everytime you get in, a new adventure starts. That is what life is supposed to be about afterall, right?

everything sounds good...i enjoy hearing good things about my plans (even tho this is an s2k forum and i probably will most likely only hear good things .... but who cares? hehe)
about the clock, did it just come out for the '02 models or something? cuz nastinupe said that he doesn't have one, but then Marc W. does...
only thing i can think of at them moment of the s2k changes in 02 are the glass rear window and a better stereo? let me know if i'm leaving something out cuz i know i am....
man i can't wait to get this badboy, all i do is daydream about it everyday at work, after work, pretty much anytime my mind has wandered away from my body....i need to win the lotto or something hahaha wouldn't that be nice..

well thanx for every1's replies, it was very helpful

Love it as a daily drive. Do about 12 miles one way. About 5 miles on two lane road and balance on the interstate. Car does great on both. Longest drive is 1000 miles in 15 hours. All interstate. Felt more comfortable do that drive in the S as opposed to the same drive in my SUV.

Hope this helps
