Default Question for taller S2K owners...

Hey gang,

Im brand new to the forum. Im considering a S2000. Currently I have a Boxster S. Its not a daily driver, I do a lot of autox's, the occasional track day, and take a weekend trip to the mountains once in a while. The Porsche is really pretty pampered, I have separate wheels/ tires for autox/ track. Overall, probably drive it 3-4K miles a year. Anyway, the Porsche's warranty will be up in June/ 08. As much as I love this car, I really dont want to own it without a warranty. This is my second porsche, and I have seen how costly the repairs can be.

The reason I am telling you all this, is because the S2K would be filling the same role that the porsche did.

One of my biggest complaints with the posche was always the legroom. I am 6'2" and weigh about 185#. With the porsche, it always felt like I really needed another inch or two of leg room. If I put the seat all the way back, then my legroom felt decent, but to do this I would have to tilt the seat back a little straighter up then I like, and my back wasnt really happy. And vice-versa, if I wanted to be able to recline the seat back a little to make my back happy, then I had to move the entire seat forward a little (off of the firewall), and then my legs would lose a little room and felt sort of bent.

So, how tall are you guys? Anyone who is 6 feet and up, do you have an issue like I described above? Or can you position the seat in way that satisfies both your legs and back?

Like I said, this car will not be a daily driver, so I can make some sacrifices.

Oh, and yes, I have driven one, but its been several years and I really cant remember, and there is currently none at the dealerships in town.

I'm 6'2" and 170 lbs and I fit fine. It seems to vary from person to person though since some people have longer legs, etc. You really just have to drive it again and see. I have the seat all the way back and can't tilt it since there is no more room. I like the position of the seat like this though so I don't know if that really helps any. It sounds like it would be the same as with the Boxster since the seat can't be reclined if it's all the way back.

i'm 6' and 210 lbs. i wish it had a little more leg room for exactly the same reasons you mentioned. a longer seat cushion (like the one BMW uses in z4) would probably do the trick. also, once you have found the ideal position, make sure you bring your car to the shop so that they can mess with your settings ......
otherwise, love it. cheers.

I'm 6' and 233lbs and II fit fine. I have the seat moved several notches forward as well. Look in the regional forum on here where you live and I'm sure a local owner will let you test-sit in their car! We're generally a pretty friendly bunch

6'2" and 195 here. I feel that I fit fine, but I also feel that I'm right about the limit of what I would consider comfortable. Your opinion may vary.

I also feel that, like flag2carrot, a slightly longer seat would help immensely for leg support. Otherwise, I'm good. Have the seat 2 notches forward.

I'm 6'2 and 155 lbs. I sit only 2 or 3 clicks back from the very front that the seat can go, and the back is straight up as I have one piece Bride seats. With that said, I have PLENTY of room everywhere - head room, side room (hell, I'm 20-30 pounds lighter than the average person my height ), and leg room as well. You'll be fine. Don't listen to the people that will chime in saying that they're 6 foot and have to put the seat all the way back. They don't know what they're talking about.

I'm 6'2" - 225 lbs... Ouch!!! No, really... the fit in the S2K is fine; funny thing is that when I installed the factory hard top, I also gained at least another inch in head room.

I have absolutely never regretted my decision to buy the S2K as a replacement for my Z3. I looked at a Boxster as a replacement, but figured I would put too many miles on it too quickly for it to be reasonably affordable (my '06 S2K already has ~40K miles).

6'2"-6'3" 190 pounds. Seat fits fine, the only complaint i would have is having to bend over the steering wheel, or sideways when waiting at a stoplight for it to turn green, otherwise I can't see it.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem at all if its not your daily driver

I was shopping for a 2000 to 2002 Boxster when I wound up buying my S2000. The thought of getting hit with a main bearing seal leak or the intermediate shaft failure made me decide against the porsche. At 6, 2" and 185lbs, I thougth the cabin of the boxster was more short and wide feeling. I felt ok but had it in my mind the whole time that the seat was at its limits. The S2000's cabin is long and narrow in comparison. My seat is a couple of clicks up from the rear most position and the back is up an inch from being against the rear wall. You will most likely be ok with the length but will have to see about the narrow elbow room and how close the steering wheel is to your legs. After having the S2000 for 5 months and 6,000 miles, I am totally fine in the cabin and don't think it needs more room.

I am 6'2" and 240 lbs. I position the seat one notch from being all the way back, then tip it back as far as it will go. Once it is in that position I am quite comfortable. The alternative is putting the seat all the way back, but like your Boxster that makes me sit more upright than I am comfortable with. I have no problems getting in and out of the car.
