Default Question to those that have lowered their S2K

I figure by now, those of you that have lowered your car, have had enough time to be objective about the results. Don't post how great the results are just because you dropped a lot of cash on it. Be objective, for perspective, consider if you would lower your mothers S2K (provided she was nimble enough to get in and out of a car hugging the ground)
Have you screwed anything up???
Does the car handle better? Worse? If you had it to do over, would you still do it? How much of a problem do curbs/speed bumps present? Wheel well rub? What springs did you use? Which would you recommend? What would you do different?

I know there have been posts on this subject before, but I figure with time comes wisdom. Please dispense some wisdom.

I wouldn't lower my mother's S2000 because the ride would be firm enough for her stock. I didn't really spend all that much money on it. Just the cost of a set of HKS springs (lower a little over an in.) on the stock shocks. I've been running on this setup for about 5K mi and have no problems with under-dampening and the ride is still firm.

Handling is generally better. My corner speeds are now faster although I think I have an increase in bump steer.

I have 18" SSR GT1s and there is slight rubbing from the left rear when cornering on hard bumps, but not bad enough to justify getting the fenders rolled yet.

Yes, I would do it again.

I just installed the KG-MM DR21 race springs from Mingster.

They lower the car about 1.25" and it looks perfect. I now have more negative camber but the car seems to like it, so I haven't done an alignment. Car sticks very well around corners (better than before), and I have 7300miles with one track day to their credit.

Ride is not bouncy at all as I was fearing, and ground clearance is still ok. Yes, I would definitely do this again. I love these springs!

I will shortly be getting the OZ racing Superleggera wheels, so I will report back then about the changes.

Cheers,

I've also got the HKS springs but stuck with my stock shocks. Suprisingly, I didn't notice much of a difference in the ride quality, but it looks much better. You don't really notice how high the s2k is until you put a lowered one next to a stock one. Honestly, I don't think that It made much of a difference in the handling, but I've still got the 16in stock rims on there. But keep in mind that the HKS springs are essentially Eibach springs, so you might want to check those out too. I have to be a little more careful now around curbs and dips because the nose is so long.

Spencer,

I have the comptech coil overs. Overall, if feels more firm at high speeds...but I don't think it improved the handling of the car through the corners. It's really a cosmetic mod for my S2000...

I feel no performance increase form the springs (RM Racing). But, there are a few road hills where my wheels will come off the ground (almost) where a stock S2K spring would have had more room to flex and reach the ground better...makes the landing a little harder (squirly). But, then, most people don't go airborn in their car either. I've also bottomed out (sparks) before, going through an intersection; but that was the low hanging RM exhaust.

I'd do it all over again, it's for the aggressive look. Joe thinks that my car's backend is looser, but Joe also thinks he can feel the power of his Royal Purple oil. @ Joe.
