Default Question on top cover (boot)

I can't find an online part catalog anywhere on-line, so if anyone knows of one or can answer this question I'd appreciate it.

I bought a 2002 Silver/Black about three weeks ago as a second car (my daily driver is a 2001 Miata).

It didn't come with the convertible top cover (boot). I see a few on eBay but was wondering if there are year-specific covers or if they are all the same.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I have never heard nor read anything about them being different.

The Tonneau cover is well... To put it nicely, not very useful. It's simply too cumbersome to take on and off the car. I will sometimes put mine on for pictures etc. But for daily driving or trips it's just not that useful. It also takes up a large amount of trunk space when removed which makes it not very distance friendly.

As for quality and looks, it is pretty nice.

Also dont buy one new. They go up for sale all the time in the For Sale section. You should be able to get a great deal on one

Though I don't know for sure, but I believe there are at least two different versions of the boot cover. The "earlier" ones have more snaps on it than the "later" ones. The two may be interchangeable, but I don't know for sure that the snaps line up properly. You may want to check how many snaps are on the back of your "seats" and then look for a cover with that many snaps. Personally, I never use mine because the top is constantly going up and down. Good luck.

Hmmm, thanks for the feedback. I like to use the cover on my Miata to keep gunk out of there as well as keep the sun from damaging the inside of the soft top. But the Miata's boot is vinyl and folds perfectly flat to about 8" x 15", so I can always find room in the trunk.

Don't worry, I wasn't going to buy a new one, that's for darn sure. A touch too spendy for my liking. I figured I could get a used for < $75 on eBay.

Maybe it's not worth buying even a used one though if it's just going to become a dust collector in the garage. In the PNW we have to be able to put our tops up on a moment's notice sometimes.

contrary opinion-
i wouldnt drive the car without the boot on.
mine is over 4 years old, and the top looks brand new. it has only been washed twice- all because of the boot.
once you learn how to install it, it is easy to put on and take off.

mine's been sitting on the floor for abt... oh... 6 months?
used it once or twice and that's it. takes up too much space in the trunk. sure, it's easy to put it on and off once you get the hang of it, but trunk space has more relevance for me.

There are three models.

1. Original model with 4 snaps. (This one was recalled by Honda because of "possible" seatbelt conflict for tall people that have the seat positioned all the way back.) Still my favorite with the most coverage/protection.

2. Updated original model with 4 snaps and new cutouts to clear seatbelts.

3. Latest model with only the 2 outer snaps and the cutouts to clear seatbelts.

They are all interchangeable. The two center snaps aren't needed.

H & A sells version 2 for $125

It works great to protect the top. I leave my top down most of the year here in Texas. I use the convertible interior cover from Cover Craft to keep the cabin clean when it is parked so that I do not have to put the tonneau on and off every time I park. By the way with a little practice and once the tonneau is broken in you can fold it small enough to fit into the indentation in the bottom of the trunk. This is the link if you want to look at the convertible interior cover.
