It works great to protect the top. I leave my top down most of the year here in Texas. I use the convertible interior cover from Cover Craft to keep the cabin clean when it is parked so that I do not have to put the tonneau on and off every time I park. By the way with a little practice and once the tonneau is broken in you can fold it small enough to fit into the indentation in the bottom of the trunk. This is the link if you want to look at the convertible interior cover.

I wonder what's your secret to folding the boot cover so it's small enough to fit in the bottom opening of the trunk. I followed the instructions on the underside of the boot cover and the best I can manage with the two flapping wing parts is a trapezoid like contraption. It is more compact but no where near small enough to fit the bottom opening.

I have the four snap version, but not sure if it's version one or two. I only connect the two outside snaps and the two elastic snaps and never bother with the two interior snaps. It works great but just a pain to put on and take off.
