Questions About Warranty
okay heres the question. anybody know exactly what modifications made to our car will void the warranty? im ranging the question from anywhere from speakers to body work. im guessing what voids the warranty are changing the rims, lowering the car and adding on a bodykit. Well guys, if you guys can, answer my questions because i am very interested in knowing this
If Honda can and wants to make a case that the modification caused the failure they can refuse to warranty it. Otherwise your warranty is intact, so cosmetic mods probably will not affect warranty on mechanical items, but a mechanical change may be blamed for another failure.
According to SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) aftermarket parts may void portions of a car's warrantee if the aftermarket part contributed to the failure.
"With regard to aftermarket parts, the gist of the law is that warranty coverage cannot be denied simply because such parts are present on the vehicle, or have been used. The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought". http://www.sema.org/warranty/
For example - if you lower the car, put on aftermarket rims, and just for good measure install Rick's console cover, Honda would be hard pressed to void your warrantee on the ECM (Electronic Control Module).

ohhhh i see, i thought that once you changed the rims on the car the entire warranty of the car was just thrown out the door unless you put stock ones back on and took the car to the dealership for some maintenance thing. So its okay to fool around with the car just if something goes wrong with the car then hopefully parts you have modified wont be the cause for the malfunction right? Also has anybody noticed brake squeel yet after only 3000 miles? When i stop with the car in neutral under either semi heavy or light braking ill hear a squeel i wonder if my brakes are messed up or anything.....
