Default Questions from a new member

Hi everyone,

I'm sure you guys have been asked this question a million times already, but I'm curious as to how many of you daily-drive your S2000, and for what distance?

I've currently got a '95 Supra TT as well as a commuter car, but will probably sell them both within the next 1 or 2 months and pick up a '02 S2000. My only reservation is that I'll be left with the S2000 as my only car, and will need to drive it for a fairly lengthy commute of ~100 miles roundtrip every weekday. My commute goes through Highway 17 (in the fast direction, not the traffic-jammed direction), so I'm sure those of you from the SF Bay Area know how much fun that'll be in the S2000. =)

Anyway, I'm relatively young and don't really mind lacking the practicality of a big trunk or rear seats, but I'm just concerned about how the S2000 holds up, durability-wise, as a daily-driver, since I'll be racking up at least 20K-30K miles on it per year, which seems a lot higher than most S2000 owners I've heard of.

If anyone can direct me toward a previous thread that went over this, that'd be great as well. I always search the archives before posting something I know'll be redundant, but I couldn't find anything using "daily-driver", "daily-driven", etc., as the search terms.

Thanks a lot for any input / feedback, I really appreciate it.

It seems the search function doesn't work too well lately. As you can see, I live in the snow belt and mine is a year round daily driver ('00 MY, 22K kilometers). You live in San Fran so you should no problems. There is a thread going on right now about "high" miles cars. A few people have reported having 50, 60K miles and more on their cars so obviously they drive them. As you've already guessed, storage space is not abundant but adequate. Since you are young (and don't have a family?), you won't need to drive more than one other person as a routine.
"axcilla" (Coastal Metals - a forum sponsor) is one of those people who have over 50K miles. He lives in S. Calif. You might PM him and ask him his opinions.

I don't see a problem with racking up 20~30k per year. The car suppose to drive better as the mileage goes up. With the weather we've been having lately, convertible is definitely the choice of vehicle. I hope to see another s2k on the highway soon in the Bay Area.

Thanks a lot for replying. I didn't think there'd be any problems with daily-driving the S2000, but just wanted to get opinions from those more experienced with the car.

BTW, one more question...do any of you SF Bay Area folks know where I can pick up a '02 S2000 for MSRP around here? I'm in San Jose, and Stevens Creek Honda has a $5K markup on theirs (which I'm not about to pay), and I'm not sure about Capitol Honda since they didn't have any in stock last time I checked.

Thanks again!
