Default Quick question about '97 Civic

Hey guys, I just picked up a '97 Civic CX as my DD. I have a ~100mile round trip commute every day and this thing is great on gas. Anyway, the car runs great but the transmission (5-speed) has some issues. I think the synchros on 2nd and 3rd are about gone and it makes a bit of noise. I plan on replacing it next year, but in the meantime I just want to do a fluid change and see if that helps out. The manual calls for either Honda MTF or 10w-30 motor oil. I was wondering if using a heavier hear oil would be ok as well? I have a few quarts of Mobil1 75w-90, or Redline MT90 laying around, and I wanted to use that. Been searching civic forums for the past hour and couldnt find anything. Thanks for any help

I have a 97EX 5sp w/150K DD and after using the Honda MTL there was a remarkable difference.

However the shifter itself is sloopy so I 've ordered some new energy suspension bushings for the shifter hopefully it will cure that issue

Honda MTF, or GM Syncromesh (sp?) will give you the smoothest shifting. I always used Honda MTF, but a lot of people on the civic forums like the syncromesh better.
