Please do a search. It has been discussed "in depth" on several threads. In general it boils down to V1 or Escort 8500. Both models have very happy owners. V1 does a little more (ie, arrows to point to the source) but also costs a lot more; whereas, Escort reportedly gives less false readings.

And the Escort Solo S2 which is basically the same as the Escort 8500 but cordless.

I have it now for like a month . And it was a very good investment

Thanks for the responses. I'm getting the hang of this site, and have checked out the strings on detectors

Just to be clear, IMHO there is NO WHERE that you will get unbiased, reliable information. It seems everyone defends the one they bought, and the "independant" testers accuse each other of "cheating" all the time.

dlq04 hit the nail on the head, V1 or Passport 8500.

Not necessarily. Money is more the issue for me when I bought the Passport 8500. Got it for half the price of a V1 at discount, but if I was rich, I'd get the V1, since it's got some useful arrows. I run into situations all the time that I wish I had arrows.

I was going to lunch today with a coworker, and going up a hill, the up arrow and ka went of on my V1. About 5 seconds later, cresting the hill, there was the cop. About 10 seconds later, I was sitting at a stop light and it went off again. And a couple of seconds later, the cop went through the intersection. This was in downtown Plano, with a lot of tall building all around. We both thought that it was pretty impressive.
