The cord on fuzzbuster started to rag out because of the distance to the plug. Now that cold weather has arrived and the top stays up most of the time, I have found a new mounting point for the unit that works much better, as far as having the cord strung across the car.

I fold the aeroscreen down and stick the sucker there between the seats instead of the windsheild. Now the cord is out of the way and I can hear it go off over the stereo. I can also see the lights reflecting off the translucent rear window in my mirror.

Anyone know if this will affect the radar detectors performance? It's got both lazer and radar receptors, front and rear. It seems if the rear ones work from the windsheild, the front ones should work from the between the seats.

I just stick with my trusty Passport Solo cordless, hooked onto the passenger's sun visor. FYI, it was the highest-rated cordless detector as tested by Car & Driver and it's been nothing but perfect to me, for half the price of a Valentine. No tickets in the four years I've owned it, and I just attach it to whichever car I'm driving at the time, no power cord to worry about.

Why not run a wire up from the fuse box to a spot on the dash or windshield you like. Seems like a hassle to have it behind you, even though it should work just fine there.

The reason why a lot of people don't like to hang their detectors or hardwire it in a convertible is because it is a convertible! =) It is very easy to "slash and grab" and you will be short $400 if yours is the valentine one.

Oops forgot to add something. Some people say that they have never heard or personally experience such things. Let me assure you, these things do happen. Just because you live in the nicer part of the country does not mean everyone can afford the same luxury as you do. You must take into consideration of those worst case scenario.

This is by no means directed at anyone. Please do not get offended =) Just sharing my pennies.

The reason I no longer have a V1 is because it disappeared, and I assume it went with the person who broke out driver side window of my previous car.

I now have a smaller unit that I leave up and a car that is not locked most of the time.

Just because you run a hard wire doesn

My bad =) I always assume that when people hardwire their radar, they would never take it off; otherwise why bother hardwiring?

Of course in the case of S2000 it is a different story because of the location of the power source.

Just go with the SOLO Cordless and forget all the wiring and positioning concerns. I mount mine in the lower center of the windshield and it has saved my butt many times over the years especially now that I have this cop attracter. I easily pull it off the bracket whenever, and I mean whenever, I leave the car except in my garage. I had an 85 300ZX with a cordless tucked in the door panel storage area that I parked in front of my Health Center in broad daylight and lots of people around and someone broke the window and stole it. Thieves have large b---s.

I have mine mounted between the headrests also, with a cord. It's easy to take it off and put into the glovebox because it is attached with velcro. The only disadvantage is you have no visual of the lights, but mine is loud enough, even with the top down.

I have my Valentine 1 hardwired but easily removable. When I was having my alarm installed I had them run a power lead behind the winshield frame and out a small hole hidden behind the pasenger side visor.

Since the Valentine 1 uses standard phone cord for the power and control lead, it's very easy to plug and unplug. The cord hides behind the passenger visor when the detector is not plugged in.
