I just checked my radiator reserve tank and it is down to the minimum line. i havent drove the S for about 2 weeks should i put more fluid in or what? its an 03 with 22,000 miles. thanks

 

Yes. Make sure you get the right stuff. Honda sells is pre-mixed. It is blue and not green.

 

the stuff in the radiator looks green though?? isnt there 2 types of honda fluid I and II?? just top it off? how long will i be fine for if i dont top it off?

 

The radiator uses a two way rad cap. When the fluid gets hot, it expands and is forced out of the radiator over flow through the two way cap and into the overflow tank. When it cools, it is sucked back into the radiator as the pressure reduces.

It is ok to run for a short while if the coolant level is at the minimum level. When it gets hot, it's just going to puke out fluid into the overflow tank, then go back into the radiator. The over flow should not affect the cooling system unless it is empty. Just make sure that when you top it off, you use Honda All Season Antifreeze/Coolant type II. (part #OL999-9001) Always use the Honda Coolant/Antifreeze. Use of the wrong fluid can cause corrosion and damage to the cooling system. Honda All Season Type II Coolant/Antifreeze is 50% antifreeze and 50% water. Mixing is NOT required.

so if i drive the S, the reserve will probably fill up because of heat then right? should the reserve tank be full if the car is completly cooled down? also Stratocaster said that the honda coolant is blue and not green? but the stuff in my radiator is green, i never changed it or nothing i bought the car will green fluid in it. thanks

 

I just checked my left over bottle of anti-freez, and the part # its is green. what are you talking about?

You can run your car at the minimum expansion tank level without hurting your car. IF the tank goes empty, you'll pull air into your radiator when the coolant cools off. Air in your engine's cooling system can cause problems (indicated by a higher operating temp). So add coolant as soon as you can.

Definitely use Honda Pre-mix coolant. There is some confusion on the color of the right type: Until recently (2004 model year?), BOTH types of Honda coolants were green. I think someone on this site pointed out that Honda changed their "100,000 mile" coolant to blue to make them obviously different.

I have a 2002 S2000, and my coolant is green.

O.K. this is what honda sold me for my s2k:" honda all season long life anti- freeze type 2" part #OL 999-9001. silver bottle, red cap. the green stuff.. so is this the wrong stuff?
