Default radio code - honda not helping

i just got my battery changed and now i have the error code on the radio. my problem is, when i got my S the dealer never told me about a code to enter into the radio in this situation. they told me to check the manual for the code, but its nowhere to be found, and the manual told me to call my dealer. now the dealer is saying they're gonna charge me $100 to remove the radio and reset the error code. obviously im not gonna let them do this, but is there anything else i can do? i was never issued a card or any document with a radio code on it. helppppp

They're trying to pull a fast one on ya. They can give you your radio code with your VIN # and proof you own the car like a registration card. All dealerships do this for free.......well the one's that don't try to screw you. Call another dealership if you have to.

It's not in your Owner's Manual packet?

Sometimes a vin isnt enough. Pull the radio. There will be a serial number and a model number on the casing. Bring the it to the dealer with proof you own the car. They should just give you the code that way. The labor some dealers charge is to remove and re-install the radio. Go to parts. I think you may have more luck there.

hold down 1 and 6 together on the radio for a few seconds, the radio will spit out a code, give that code to the dealer, and they will give you a code for the radio... thats what I did when I went to the dealership a month ago for the same problem.

I just had the same problem last week, stopped by the local dealer and the service rep looked at a code on the inside of the center compartment and gave me a slip of paper with the code on it about 30 seconds later.
