Default radio code issue

I know this issue has come up plenty of times, and I've searched and read a good amount of crap on it, but after calling the dealer - I didn't think I'd have any issues.
I hit the power button, then power back on while holding 1+6, write down the 8 #'s that follow, and call the dealership.
They tell me a 5 digit number to enter as my radio code, which I enter while on the phone with them, and get an error message. I got Err3 because I'd tried entering another number (didn't know what I was doing) previously, they tell me to disconnect the battery and try again.
I do so, and enter the 5 digit code they provided me with, and still get an error message. Re-disconnect, connect, and enter the code again, still get an error message. Is it possible they provided me with the wrong code? Or am I doing something wrong? @_@
Sorry to touch this topic again, but I'm reeeeeeeeeeeally tired of driving w/o music, and wanna sort this out tonight.

the five digit code is on a sticker in the secret compartment. open the top and there it is. there is another code underneath, but the top one's the radio code. the unit asks for the code, you enter it.

Funny, I don't believe I have any of these labels/stickers in my vehicle. I've checked in the glove compartment, and the secret compartment, and there is nothing anywhere in either of them T_T
I presumed that when I call the dealer with my serial # / U+L number from the radio, the number they provided me with would work - as they literally told me "you want to enter xxxxx" :sigh: Do I just need to pull the radio again and give them that number instead? Or should I pull out the carpet/liner in the trunk and take a look around there for the #?

The numbers they need are on the radio. if you're not the original owner, there is a possibility the radio could have been swapped out. the radio code that was in my car did not work on my radio. The only explanation was that the radio was not original. the dealer needed the serial number, and the other number, and they were able to look it up.. I say call them again.
