Default Radio Door Question

What is the cut out/slot arrangement on the inside of the radio door designed to do?

I've been considering trying to use it to rig some sort of a simple removable iphone holder. I'm not very happy with any of the iphone holder solutions I've seen thus far.

Lots of speculation on the slots ranging from Japanese title/registration requirements to filing your speeding tickets to turnpike tickets for those without EZpass transponders.

I found an iPhone holder that clamps in the CD slot of the radio. Not perfect and rarely use it.

iPhone holder? The Modifry dash mount, with a ProClip iPhone holder has been a blessing, since I installed it in April. ProClip custom makes them to your phone model, and whether you have a case on or not. I don't use a case, so mine fits like a glove. Could turn the holder 360 degress on the Modifry mount, if I wanted to.

I have used proclip holders for years and have them now in other vehicles. In fact, I have one in my s2k now but the proclip bracket location on the driver's side of the tunnel is bothering me a bit. Maybe I'll try the Modifry dash bracket. How do you attach the proclip iphone holder to the Modifry bracket? Do you find the Modifry bracket is good and solid? Is it difficult to mount? Cutting involved? Will it return to 100% stock if you remove it down the road?

I love my modifry bracket! everything he makes is awesome and well worth the money . The bracket has a few sets of holes in the back you simply use some small nuts and bolts( I don't remember if they came with the bracket or the holder sorry ordered it all from modifry at once), it is very solid, pretty easy to mount just use proper dashboard tools, no cutting needed, could turn it back to stock in the blink of an eye

I understood the Modifry dash bracket install directions require some minor cutting of plastic?

The only cutting is some trimming behind the dash. Unless someone pulls the dash apart, they would never know.

I appolagize a do remember now there is a tiny tiny lip on the backside of the plastic. you trim it back a small part and like pmptx said it is not visible. the lip is only overhang between the two parts so when you put it back together the cuts are hidden completely inside your dash. The cuts are so minor I forgot about them and I'm the one who made them

Mine is where my cell phone sits. I have an aftermarket deck without the audio controls connected, so the door is always down and is the perfect size for my phone. Sits perfect and doesn't slide around with a case on it.

The slot is for toll tickets or parking garage tickets. If you put them in the visor with the top down they could blow away. The strap on the center console door is for registration.
