Default Radio reception???

Is the S2000's radio reception typically poor?

I only ask because I used to get great reception all the time in my old car, and now it seems to be MUCH weaker in areas where it should be perfect. Not pure static, but just not 100% clear...

Also, if you upgrade the head unit does that improve reception or not really? (Audio upgrade tops my list of things to do right now...)

THANKS!

I don't know if this is the norm, but I just picked up my 04 Rio tonight. On the drive home, I couldn't find three of the stations that I listened to in my Jeep with a $100 MEMOREX radio. What is up with the radio reception??

All the cars I've had in the past have had the antenna built into the rear window. I would think an actual little antenna that sticks up like our cars would get better reception than the window kind?

Guess not...

Quit complaining guys. If you start surfing around S2Ki, you may come across some threads where people are upset that Honda put a radio and a cupholder in the S!!!

An aftermarket radio (like Pioneer with SuperTuner) should pick up a better signal, but it may not be the difference you desire. Satelite Radio may be your answer.

BTW - if you drive the 04, it will probably be cheaper to install an aftermarket system, than the Honda XM Radio system - the S2000 is "XM Radio WIRED" not "EQUIPPED"

If the car didn't come with a radio or wasn't an option I wouldn't have bought the car. Simple as that.

Everyone complains about how all these "creature comforts" add weight and take away from what the car is. Screw that. If I wanted a shopping cart with an engine I would just build one myself. A car SHOULD have a damn radio. And while your at it Honda, how about making one that actually works? Whats that gonna add, 500 lbs? Come on. It's 2004. How can you not be able to make a radio that gets good reception...?

Anyway just venting. I love the car and all, but I guess I'll have to either live with a sucky radio or fix it somehow. Plus adding XM and that little box on the trunk lid probably raises the coefficient of drag, so i guess that's out of the question!

YES, the radio reception does suck pretty bad. I've changed the head unit and it sucks just as bad, so I'm guessing it's the antenna.
