I don't believe canvas will last as long as vinyl. If the car is garaged, canvas might have a chance to last a few years. If not, spend the extra and get vinyl.

I have been wondering about this.
I have an 00 with 68k and am starting to get the tears on both sides.
I am trying to get Honda to replace at least part of it.
The service manager told me the glasstop will not work.period.
He said even if I change the whole frame and everything.it wont work.
I knew he was wrong and this thread makes me feel better that I actually CAN upgrade to the glass window.

I went into the local Honda dealer just last wed. and have been waiting for a call to set up an appointment to see the district manager.I got a call back today from the service manager, the dm had come in today. Both of them had seen the common problem of the tears / fraying and ...anyways...

I got really good results, they placed the order for a brand new convertible top and will have the S2k in next week or so to have it installed...

I will post some before / after pics once its all done.

Are they going to replace with a glass top and are they going to make you pay for anything? My dealer says that it will cost $3,000-$4,000 to replace with a glass top and modifications. (what a fool) My '00 with 63k has wear tears on both sides as well. The DA agreed to split the cost with me on a new top with a plastic window. The cost to me will be $1,000, which is outrageous.

whats wrong with a canvas top? are u serious?
The upkeep on canvas is much greater than our vinyl (plastic) top. I wouldn't recommend canvas on cars that aren't garaged.

Honda covered EVERYTHING 100%
I just got my car back yesterday, it took about 2 days .
It is a plastic window, and brand new vinyl too of course, and looks awesome...I dont want to drop the top!I wanna keep the window crease free for as long as possible, haha I will atleast take my AFTER pics first before I put the top down. anyways though I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, when I was told Honda was gonna cover this for me. considering that :

1) My S2k is an 00..its nearly 7 years old!!! with 68 k miles
2.)It is obviously way out of warranty.
3.)Im not the original owner.

1 BEFORE & 3 AFTER PICS. . .
