Rain-X Glass coating technology

Has any body used this product on the rear window? it works wonders on glass but plastic??? Bottle says can be used on certain plastics and to consult with the maker,Ive tried Honda and they say try the manufacturer of the plastic, but they dont know who makes it! I would hate to put it on then find a few minutes later a pool of liquid plastic where the window should be.
