Rant about trunk locking the doors

Thanks to everyone for sharing the (I suppose valid) reasons why Honda wants to help me keep my car safe. My Integra had a similar insane feature where the alarm system (installed by Honda, made by Karr) would lock the car after about 30 seconds any time you shut the doors.
I would just like the control of locking the doors myself. To me, it's more annoying to have the auto-lock feature protecting me than the threat of an accidental unlock if I hit my unlock button by accident. Just MHO.

s2k redhead,
We had a female owner lock her keys in the trunk while at the AZ S2000 club tech day. The doors were unlocked, however the center console was locked.
The locksmith attempted to pick the center console with no luck and then proceeded to the trunk with much quicker results.
So don't lock your purse in the center console.

chiming in for no reason...
yeah, the relock can be annoying at times, but i find that keys in my pockets often hit the buttons, and i'd hate to walk away from the car only to realize (when it's gone or gutted) that the button accidentally got pressed.
btw - real reason to post... i questioned this 'feature' to my dealer one day... they immediately volunteered to shut it off for me... apparently, there is a simple procedure to disable this function... he wasn't 100% sure what it was, but said it was something as simple as inserting and removing the key x number of times, then pushing one of the buttons or something.
*shrug*
check w/ your dealer, maybe there is a simple procedure we can share.
