Default rattle

I have a 2002 S2000. When it's cold outside, I hear a rattle near the passenger side seat back. Not the belt, seems to be coming from the top. When the car has been inside heated garage - nothing. It's very loud in a cold car with the top up (it's in the single digits here). Any one have an idea what it is or how I convince the dealer I'm not crazy?

It's the seat back woggling on the passenger side. If you have someone sitting there it won't do it, or if you put the seat back all the way to it hits the roll bar it will eliminate it.

Also, check to make sure that the passenger side seatbelt is not rattling up against the seatbelt guide that's attached to the seat. That drives me nuts.

It's not the seat and it's not the belt. It may be a problem unique to my car rather than a model wide problem.

I have the exact same problem. I have a 2003 and took delivery in December, and its made that noise since day one. The dealership has pinpointed the problem in the metal of the top, but as of right now there is no fix for the problem. The general manager of the dealership tells me Honda is aware of the problem and is going to be coming up with a solution. Until then when its cold outside I am stuck with the sound. I thought it was just my car Until the service manager took another brand new S out for a drive with me and it did the same thing. I sure hope this fix comes soon!

that click you hear in the roof is also on my 2003 on the right side (driver's side for us). It sounds like two metallic ball bearings knocking against each other when driving over a bumpy road.

I have my car at the dealer service centre right now and told them of the problem so hopefully they come up with something.

I don't think that is the click he means. I've addressed the roof click here and how to fix it:

Those of you in cold climates, please keep in mind that stuff contracts a bit when it gets cold. That leaves more room for movement. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the rattles go away when the weather warms up.

This rattle does go away when the weather is hot or in a heated garage. Unfortunately it is very loud and annoying in a closed up car on a cold day and more than I would accept as just little rattle when stuff contracts. I suspect there is metal on metal and that a better design would have prevented this.
