Maybe I missed it? Roof up or down or both?

Roof up… to be honest, I rarely have the top down.

Lots of rattles with the roof up on the S2000, part of the roof package. At least mine. I don't worry about it. If I wanted a coupe I'd have a BRZ.

Yea, after reading multiple other ancient threads about rattles it seems to be the norm.
My OCD is determined to track it down tho.

I need to teach my girlfriend to drive it so I can investigate from the passenger seat. It’s a bit difficult to reach back there searching for the culprit while trying to drive

I had a rattle/thump coming from the rear that took a long time to find. Turned out to be supplies in the spare tire clunking around.

I also have a metallic tapping/rattling noise started about a year ago, same/similar location behind the seats as you described. Keeping an eye on this thread in case you figure it out.

I’ve ruled out the common culprits (passenger seatbelt rattle, loose spare tire, roll hoops hitting the convertible glass). Access is difficult but I’ve felt around back there and everything is tight. Not sure if the noise is actually from something in the convertible top/glass or something from the void space behind the seats. Also, top is original and so is the back glass.

Any ideas? I’m stumped
By chance does the rattle stop when you lightly apply the brakes?
I have a rattle in the front that does this, which I think is from a misplaced spring clip that holds the brake pads. Could happen in the back, too.

Ok, so you're making me remember something. I was tracking it down forever. Then I got Billman to ride along, and he's like, dude, that's normal. They all do that.

It was like a clutch buzz type sound, but coming from behind. It happened on decel. Top up or down, but more noticible top up.

I went nuts. Taking out everything from trunk. Adding damping matt to tray below fuel tank, rubber wedges to muffler heatshields, foam jambed under softop tray. I was under car with rubber mallet tapping everything. Adding wedges to and things as tests to make sure they couldn't vibrate.

I was sure there was something wrong. There wasn't.

Following this thread as well. I have a metallic buzz from around 2500-3500rpm that sounds like its coming from behind drivers seat.

Only when top up though, goes away if top is down, so I've ruled out the exhaust system as the source.
