Recently I began to hear a rattling behind the passenger seat when the top is up, which is more pronounced when going over bumps or rough roads. It sounds like a metal on metal sound, kind of like two tools hitting each other. My car has about 38000 miles on it and is MY01. This sound is slowly driving me crazy and I can't find the source!! Any suggestions? HELP!

 

Check to make sure that the spare tire is tightened down.

 

It sounds like the same thing I had. I spent some time trying to find the rattle and gave the molding behind the passenger seat a good wack, where the seat belt tensioner is located... problem solved!

 

I have the problem now, what is causing mine is the exhaust. Get underneath the car and check to make sure your drivers side exhaust is touching the under strut bar. My exhaust will sag sometimes, causing the two peices of metal to click when i hit a bump.
