My passenger seat rattles too. It is only the back part of the seat though. The seat also squeaks when it is pushed all the way back but these are different. I have never heard of this before, but now I know I'm not the only one. BTW I have a MY01.

I had a rattling passenger seat and found it not to be the seat buckle hitting the rear trim, but actually the seat itself was moving. First port of call i would suggest is to check them bolts. If the seat moves when you wiggle it by gripping the headrest, theres your answer.

If that doesn't solve the issue, then another possibnility could be the seat cover retainers underneath the seat. If one of these snaps and gets half lodged between seat and hole, that can cause a rattle, but not one that was too loud.

THIRD option is to check the seat tracks and guides; loose change! :-)

Hope this helps.

Try fastening the passenger seatbelt when noone is in it. Sometimes the buckle rattles against the side when it's not buckled.

mine does it! there's a little bit of play in the seat back, just enough so that when you hit a bumpy section the seat back jumps back and forth a little bit causing an annoying rattle/thump. drives me nuts!

also, after an interior cleaning the driver's seat will squeak like mad against the rear interior wall plastic. unfortunately for me i have to have the seat all the way back so i just live with it, it only lasts for a couple days.

my seat use to vibrate when i drove and rattle as well. i took it back to the dealer since they had to work on that seat anyway and now it's gone. it's been only a day so i'll see if it comes back or not.

argh, i hate it though when they readjust the seats in your car when you go to get it worked on. i can never get it back to the way i liked it before, at least it doesn't feel quite right.

I have found three sources of rattles in my S2k, all of which seem to be easily cured:

1 - If the passenger seat is empty and is pushed all the way back, the seatback will make contact with the trim and the rollbar hoop when you go over bumps and make a very annoying rattle. The fix for this is easy, just move the seat forward an inch or two and no more rattle. This was driving me absolutely crazy when I first got my car.

2 - The metal tongue on the passenger's side seatbelt buckle taps against the plastic door trim, creating a rattle. This is due to slack of the seatbelt allowing the tongue to swing around. This is fixed by eliminating the slack. You can do this by pushing down the plastic thing that rotates where the seatbelt anchors into the floor, next to the seat. If you push it down it slightly stretches the belt and takes out the slack. This keeps the metal tongue from bumping the trim.

3 - Air deflector rattle. This one seems like it's just from plastic against plastic. If you mess with the deflector it makes the rattle go away for a while. I guess the ultimate solution would be to get some tape or felt to keep the plastics from making noise when they rub.

that's exactly what it is...tuck it into the belt guide up top the seat

the dealer? it's only the edge of the seat belt clip hitting the side of the car....seriously, just tuck it into the "belt guide" on the outer top of the seat and your rattle will dissappear...no matter where your seat is positioned
