Chazmo,

Ludedude raises all of the important points. Good anti-seize (Loctite) won't burn off and it will prevent the galvanic corrosion between the lugnut and the post. If you want to see galvanic corrosion look at the inside of your wheels where they contact the hub. That's a steel to Al joint.

Don't forget the Al is the sacrificial anode in the Al-steel relationship. So you replace the lugs every few years because they get "damaged" when you remove the wheels because the Al is soft. Big deal, it's kind of expensive but not unsafe.

However, there's no way I would put Al lugs on steel shafts with the difference in thermal expansion. If you use the Al lug nuts I would check the torques every week.

I wouldn't use Ti lug nuts either since many of the commom Ti alloys become embrittled after contact with Aluminum.

So, anybody, anti-seize compound?? Does it prevent corrosion due to metal-on-metal? Does it cook off and get brittle if you get your hubs hot from racing?
Chaz, sorry I didn't get back into this thread until now.

I agree with everything Fencer said. Get a good quality anti-seize and it should minimize the galvanic action.

The bigger problem in my mind is the heating/cooling cycles. Check those lugs weekly and don't overtorque them.
