Wow, didn't know the tape was so expensive. Definitely less expensive to get it painted black.

Call around the local sign shops as see if you can pick up some "High Performance" black vinyl. You would have to hand cut the tape but you might get lucky and pick up some scraps for free.

Do Not get the intermediate grade stuff, even if it's free. Genersal rule of thumb, intermediate is good for 3 to 5 yrs and high perf is good for 7 to 10 yrs.

I would hope that the OEM stuff is good for life.

The guy i bought my car from scratched on side of his tape. The new piece didnt match the other two.

So he replaced all three pieces. $600 to have the dealership do it.

Only reason i havent removed mine yet.

Was just watching Initial D season 4, episode 20. There's a blue S2000 with single exhaust and wing racing Takumi. His tape's pealed off. Did JDM S2000's have the black tape?

It looks good in the blue.
That it does. And with a blue softtop it looks amazing.

If you take the cost of the tape from those parts sites, that would make it $500.00 in labour.

considering the costs of replacing the tape now I'm MORE reluctant to mess with it. I'm keeping mine. It looks better with tape.

I took mine off last night. Judging by the way it was fit under the rubber it would be almost impossible to install this.

BTW I like the way it looks with it off and have no remorse.

Plus I think the black windshield still looks better even with a hardtop. IMO

I personally believe the black hard top looks best on all colors, so no need to ever remove the tape!
