Rear end creaking/crackling with torque change
I am having a strange issue with my 2002 S2000. Whenever I accelerate or decelerate, the backend seems to make a creaking / crackling sound. It occurs as soon as I either hit the gas hard or pull my foot completely off the gas while having significant throttle. I can't tell if this is a suspension piece that needs grease or my differential or something else. Anyone else run into this issue?
It is most audible when driving with the top down.

If it's a small almost metallic 'click' sound, then it's probably one of your axle halfshafts.
There is a TSB out for it where Honda will try to take the axle nut off, put a new one on and torque it to somewhere around 250 ft/lbs, but I think that's just a band-aid. My first 2002 S2000 started doing it and they replaced the axle under warranty. My current one is doing it, and although it only has 13k miles on it, it's out of warranty based on time. I may have to see if they'll do a goodwill repair under warranty.
