So I get done work today and it's beautiful night. The sky is clear and it's nice and cool out. I start on my drive home and the car is running strong, felt stronger than normal which is probably due to the cool air. With the car running this good I just had to exercise it a little. So I'm cruising along at a decent clip and I see in front of me an old Cuda. He's going just a tad slower than me so I pull in the right lane to go around him. Well this guy waits till I get right next to him and decides to drop the hammer. He goes flying past me and I'm like WTF!!! I wasn't going that fast and I didn't do any thing that would have made him think I wanted a race. I just shrug it off and continue on my merry little cruise. About a mile down the road some idiot in a Mazda 3 comes flying up on my rear and starts flashing his lights. I'm like what does this freak want, if you want to pass go around then. I'm already moving at a pretty good clip and have no intention of going any faster. He continues to ride my tail for about another half mile, all the while flashing his lights now and then, and then pulls along side of me and signals he wants to run. This dude is either insane or just plain stupid. I kindly decline and he takes off like a bat out of hell. Guess he's going to go home and tell all his buddies how he smoked a S2000. Glad I could make his day. So now I'm thinking to myself, is it a full moon or some thing because the idiots sure are out tonight. Little did I know there would be more displays of stupidity this evening. My next encounter was with some dork in a primer grey Civic with a fart can muffler he must have bought from Walmart. I'm in the left lane and need to get over to the right so I can make my turn off. This guys is in the right lane and instead of letting me in, he speeds up!!! WTF!!! I speed up a little in an attempt to get in front of him and he drops down a gear to accelerate and attempts to block me. I should have done the same and blown his doors off but this guy was an idiot and an accident waiting to happen. The guy behind him saw what was happening and moved into the left lane to get out of the way and I was able to hit the brakes and duck in behind the punk in the Civic.

I'm assuming that it may have been my spirited driving that made these people act this way but who knows. Do you guys have every one and their brother trying to race you when your out cruising??? I was so glad just to get home and get my car safe inside my garage.

 

i can understand what you mean. Here in my town, whenever i drive my s2000, i will have at least one or two circumstances where somone will either be a jerk and not let me in a lane or try to race me. Everyone wants to say they have beat a s2000 here. I mean everyone, from a kia suv to a riced out tripple color civic, to sti and evo. I guess it would make them feel good that they beat the top of the line honda or something. I wouldnt worry about it man, you will get used to it and begin to just laugh it off. Be safe.

It's a jungle out there. I feel your pain, and was struck by how these sorts of incidents increased when I moved from driving an econobox to a S2000.

i usually get the occasional evo that tortures his BOV while he sits on my ass. in these cases i love to stop at yellow lights.

 

I like to **** around like im about to race some one and then I slam my brakes and they go flying by. I'm sure it makes them feel stupid.

 

Pretend to pick up a phone and yell out " some pimped high schooler is trying to race me with gawd knows what! " then drive off.

 

i get that all the time. fish22 and i had some 3 guys packed into a regular cab ranger try racing us. we were top down of course and he thought hed be cool by driving by us and screaming that hondas are gay. so my girl without missing abeat said "well the way it looks you got 2 other guys in your truck and hes got me and hes getting laid tonight"

and she gets mad at me when i open my mouth but i thought that was perfect

 

I wonder if it's an East Coast thing, because that happens to me just about every freakin' day. It doesn't matter if I'm in my S or my minivan, same freakin' thing.

I was driving my minivan up to Phila a couple of weks ago, same damn thing all the way around the Baltimore Beletway, up 95, inot DE and on 495 into PA and 95 into Phila.

One time last year, I was driving my S while towing my tire trailer coming back from an autox, this jackass in an SUV (Escalde, Navigator or one of those gas hogs) pulled out of an apartment complex right infront of me (left lane of a 4 lane street in a neighborhood). I pulled into the right lane to get around the jackass, so what does he do? He speeds up. Fkucer wanted a race, so I gave him one. My S WITH my fully loaded tire trailer took his fat SUV ass to the cleaners. Why the fkuc do these assholes come out of the woodwork to find me???

Here in the land of the Tiburon/Tuscani is even worse. There is no lightly modified Korean car that can take a stock S but it never fails. I had a turbo Actyon (http://www.zofona.com/ssangyong-actyon.html) try to race me one night. It is one of the most ridiculous SUV's on the planet. Normally I don't race these guys but this one was a complete a$$ so I pulled away until I couldn't see him anymore. A few minutes later he flys by me honking. What a dork.
