Default Rear plastic

Has any one with the plastic rear window ever replaced it? Mine is fairly chipped up, from previous owner, and the the bottom border is discolored and nasty. The car looks great, but the rear plastic looks like it come from a 1981 bmw convertible. thought about doing the conversion to glass, but I think I'd rather be cheap and start over and take better care of it than the original owner. Can this swap even be done?

not really accurate. You CAN replace only the plastic cover. Talk to Dale Sharp Honda as they have done a couple of them here. It is a pain in the ass but can be done. I would however try using a polisher and then a cleaner. 3M makes some really good stuff. It might not resolve the problem fully but we tried that with a friend of mine's plastic window and it made a HUGE difference. I use it every month on mine and I still can't believe the difference it makes.

It sounds like your window has been neglected and needs to be properly cleaned instead of being replaced.

I've used cleaners and polishes by Meguiars to clean the rear window on my car. It looks almost new now.

Now I clean it regularly with Plexus to keep it looking new.

The previous owner didn't take great care of it. Ever since I bought it I've been using plexus and other cleaners to keep in in shape. I can see out of it just fine, but if the price was right, I would just replace and start off with the good treatment from the beginning. May be I should just go hard top. I think I"ll tint it up this weekend and just leave it. THanks for the info.

if you are going to replace something , replace the whole top to glass
if you are not, then just buy the right stuff...as mentioned by some members and get cleaning!

Follow this advice and your rear window will look like new. My 00 still looked new when I sold it and I used this method reguarly.
