Default Rear wind deflecter?

Hey guys stupid question, how can I remove my rear wind deflector or keep it from making weird crackling sounds? Any hints? I took my car to the dealership, and they didnt do squat....they even said they fixed the cracling noises from my softtop, but didnt do no good either. They tried to put some sealent or something on but didnt help out much

Look on the rear flat surface of the deflector base. You'll see two little "caps". Carefully pry those caps off and you'll see bolt heads. Open the secret compartment lid and you'll see the corresponding nuts. Hold one, turn the other and the thing will come off.
You can try to glue on some "rubber feet" to quiet it down too. Here is mine with the full size deflector:

Did you notice a big difference in in-cabin wind turbulence with the full size deflector? How does it install?

Yes, it does make a big difference. I would also recommend Ricks head rests. They stop air flow through the mesh on the top of the seats. If the instructions have not changed you uninstall the old one and carefully pry it open. Install the new one and glue together. Reinstall with the original nuts and bolts.

For me, going from the stock one to the full size one only changed the way the cabin turbulence existed. It was still there, just "different". It altered the buffetting affect to a point where it just came from a different direction at me. I ended up drilling it full of holes and this made the most difference. I did quite a few cabin turbulence experiments some years ago and discovered that it was better to "control" the turbulence than to try and eliminate it.

Mine was making creaking noises as well, even after installing Rick's 7/8th. I sprayed a small shot of silicone into the seams where the plastic holder and clear/tinted plexi meet and the creaking sounds were remedied (3 months now). Just an idea.

FYI: Rick's 7/8th aeroscreen along with the headrest wind blockers made a huge difference.
