I really liked that Explorer man... Not so much the light bar, but that lift was super nice, just right and not over done.

Here where I live we got guys driving monster trucks with 4x4s that woujld put The Grave Digger to shame.... And we aint got no hills in N Texas!!

I understand your story very much. But don't get us (S2KI Community) wrong. We are not pointing at all young kids. There are some very responsible ones just like yourself which we give great respect for knowing these things at such a young age. But most of the accidents that occur with this car, are from the younger crowd having little experience with this type of vehicle. It just happens that way. I'm not saying the experienced drivers don't get into accidents, just there is an overwhelming amount of the younger crowd getting into accidents more.

One more thing, I would have to go against street racing, regardless if it is to show proof of you winning. It is not worth it, if you know what I mean. Also, I second you might want to take some track or autocrossing days so you can get a better feeling of the limits.
Very interesting story. Thanks for sharing. Be safe and have fun with the car.

Congratulations on getting your 'S. Just remember that the 'S can be unforgiving. I agree that street racing is ! There's really nothing to prove. Be safe!

before you drive it hard, try to do a track day or autocross so you can learn the limits of the car.
Best piece of advice.

I also got my s as an 18 year old.

I got my S @ 17 Years Old after I wrecked my 94 MKIV Supra NA-T. I learned from my mistakes in the supra not to be a show off, I Love the s2k but I just happened to live in a bad city Just like the rest said, NO STREET RACING If you guys haven't noticed, the innocent ones usually die within an accident. Trust me, bring it to the race tracks, you'll have more excitement lol, everyone is looking @ you and you hope the car next to you won't be some crazy car. Be safe, enjoy your car!

Funny story!

I got my 2001 Silverstone hardtop in May with 20,xxxmi for $17,600 on e-bay. Get it home, both parents decide they like it too. My dad tells me to look for one for him, I find him a 2003 with 2,xxxmi for $23k, he was about to buy it but my mom talked him out of it. A few months later he buys a new MX-5 power hardtop. Now in the garage are two hardtop roadsters.

I'm 19 and financed it too. I got 30mpg going down to FL last month doing no less than 85mph. No... knock on wood... maintenance problems other than tires.

Who cares if kids are driving these now? They are beautiful cars. I'll toy with other cars, but don't street race, however I do enjoy a spirited drive through tough roads. I'm going to Bob Bondurant's school this summer and plan on getting a second set of wheels for some seriously aggressive tires when I get back.

Hi, my name is Colton, i am 18 years old and i drive an S2000. I have been on this forum for a month and a half and i have been seeing a lot of people complain about the fact that a younger crowd is now able to afford used S2000's and it is giving the car a bad image and hurting the resale value. I don't want to be accused of being one of these sterotypes so here is my reason for buying my 2001 S2000.
Didn't you just prove that you are exactly one of those stereotypes?

Street racing and holding video cameras.

Overconfident in their own driving skill, even with no track sessions and less than 5 years driving experience (and first RWD manual car).

Drifting on public roads.

Your intention of this thread was

The thing you do have going for you is that your Dad and Uncle are enthusiasts. Hopefully you'll keep it safe while you're growing into the car.

(And your Dad got a better deal on his car)
