Default Reasons for failed safetly inspection

I'm just about to buy a beautiful 02 CPO, on the car fax it shows the car
passed emissions but failed safety inpection in NY 2 years ago.
Can anyone think of why a 2 year old car would fail safety?

It passed 8 days later.....any ideas

Quick help would be appreciated

Probably either tires or a blown tail light or something minor.

A cracked windshield will not pass inspection in NY either.
Burned out bulbs are a no-no as well.

most likely nothing to worry about, but then again, you might have a hack electrical job buried somewhere deep in the car?
