Default Received my smog invitation

This is the first time my S2000 is getting a smog check but I’m running a mugen intake. Would this intake fail the test? Thank you in advance.

You are in tbe USA? Which State?

In all probability no, no effect on emissions test. Most States never even look under the hood. A simple visual inspection of underside via mirror on the ground, and plug imto odb port to read any codes.

A STAR Station in CA they will check for a Carb Legal Intake; unless you get a really lazy tech who doesn't. Any Intake with a carb legal will pass I don't think you Mugan has one. But the way it look super stock

I would just risk it and bring it as in just tell them it's just a carbon overlay i guess. Show them the stock filter if they question it.

If you want to be a try hard I'm sure you can put on a fake sticker to be honest that says Carb Legal that intake alone won't fail you

If you have a good working stock cat, it will pass without issue.

Other options I would look to see if you can A barrow a carb legal intake or barrow a stock airbox for the test and throw your intake back on. You can check on the FB groups
I have a stock Airbox in the bay area you can barrow if need be. Let me know

My Ap1 passed with AEM intake, high flow cat, exhaust without issue. in CA but a none star station they plug into the OBD port and check to make sure you have a correct ECU for the model of the car

In California, you cannot make any aftermarket modifications to the intake system and pass SMOG without a CARB approved system that has a sticker with the correct "EO" number on it. A STAR station must verify on the CARB database that the intake does have an EO number and then the technician verifies the sticker with the correct number on your intake. You will fail with a Mugen intake. You must go back to stock to pass SMOG.

Thank you so much for the replies guys, I think I’m just gonna borrow my friends stock air box for the smog test. I guess having it being a STAR station inspection makes it a more stricter inspection
