Default Recommendations for driving school in West Coast solicited.

I have had my S2000 a month and I really want to learn more about its handling characteristics up to, at, and beyond the limit. However, I strongly prefer to do this off road!

I live in Southern California, but am willing to drive, say, 500 miles at most, making Northern California, Arizona, and southern Nevada possibilities. I am thinking about two days. Also, my wife should get some training as well, although she usually drives too fast to have a problem.

Comments from people who have actually attended such a school--regardless of location--are requested. Also, cost is unknown to me.

Keep an eye on www.solo2.com site for Auto-X training. We set up a local Evolution driving school, Phase 1, recently. I expect you'll see it at least once a year along with a local-run school at least once a year.

Couple of thoughts. First, It sounds to me like what you really need/desire is a day or two with Speedventures. Check out www.speedventures.net. They provide track days at many tracks, with different run groups for different skill levels. It's a good, relatively inexpensive way to explore yours and the cars capabilities. They also have instructors who can help you learn the proper way to drive a car on a racetrack. Many S2000 owners frequent these events so you should be able to really see what the car is capable of. If you're looking for something more formal, a group of S2KI members recently took the Derek Daly 3-day class at Las Vegas Speedway. It was a blast. If you want to read about it I posted my thoughts here

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=94814

Good Luck. Hope to see you at the track!

Yes, what Strike said. Speedventures track days are the best! You will have SOOO much fun, and learn a LOT. And then you will want to go to every track day they have.

In fact, their next event is March 21 - go sign up and we can break in our new cars together!

Check out www.tracquest.com They run a really incredible even. You get to go for rides at speed on the local tracks and you get to take your S2000 at the fastest speed you are comfortable with.

Also consider the Performance Driving Clinics sponsored by Buttonwillow Raceway. Top-notch instruction by true pro race drivers.
