My dif oil was trashed at 4k, most likely from break in....Good point about the owners manual, you'd be amazed at what you learn...

ive been using royal purple 10w30 for engine oil...
redline mtl for the gear box...
redline hd shock proof for the diff.....
46k miles on stock drivetrain and clutch is not bad....
the engine on the other hand is my second, i used to put mobile1 synt 10w30 in my car, then one cold night i started it up ,waited till it got warm then proceed to drive away... after a couple of miles i noticed a loud knocking noise , sure enough it was a rod knock.... i turned my engine off, checked my oil level and it was full.. the next day i had the car towed to the dealer and they replaced my bottom end under warrenty...the weired thing was he asked me if i was using mobile 1 synt oil because the car before mine that came in for the same reason was using that oil...i decline to give him the answer, but thanked him for fixing my car...im not sayin that mobile 1 is bad, ive been using that oil on numerous cars ive owned for the past 11 years, but not on my s2000 anymore... thats were the royal purple stepped in...(great stuff!!!)

Puhleez - the implication that Mobil 1 could contribute to an engine failure is absurd. Royal Purple is a relatively tiny company, that is what - 10 years old if that? The founder was not a degreed lubrication engineer as best I have been able to ascertain. RP somehow have stumbled onto technology which has evaded ExxonMobil and the rest of the giants? - possible, but very unlikely. Neither RP nor M1 is a miracle oil, and there are better ones out there than either. But I have never had a car suffer an oil-related failure, and I doubt many of you have.

I use amsoil race oil 0-30, it is expensive but i think worth it. I also use honda mtf in the trans. As for the diff amsoil synthetic as well. I changed it at 4000 miles and it was nasty. I recomend changing it early as well. I had honda change my diff and my trans at 13000, so they have a record of doing it, (cya).

I will use Red Line 10W-30 for my car as soon as I pass 10K miles. For now Mobil 1 or whatever the dealer uses will be ok.
A friend of mines had an accident at Sebring years ago and his radiator was damaged in his ITR, the car ran hard with almost no coolant and very hot but it made it safe to the end because the oil held up very well.

I think Red Line is a great stuff besides the Real Time Team uses Red Line . Real winners.

What? Sorry, but I have to find the flag and wave it around a little here.

1. If he dammaged the radiator, it would still work unless it were leaking.
2. If he were leaking coolant all over the track, they WOULD black flag him.
3. There is heat generated by the friction, but all that raw fuel EXPLODING is what causes the majority of the heat.

I am surprised he did not warp his head right off the block.

I don't have the details of exactly what happened but the point is that his engine suffered less due to the oil he was running. Now you can get that flag and do what you want with it . j/k.
