Does anyone know how to use this key? There is no mention of it in the standard owners manual.

Background: My S2K won't start because the immobilizer light will not stop blinking.

I've tried all of my keys. Then this morning I noticed I had a red key in my drawer that I didn't remember having. I talked to my dealership today and they told me that it is a learning key. They told me to follow the procedure in the owner's manual to try to re-learn my keys. If this doesn't work then they will arrange for a tow in for service.

Only I can't find any mention of this learning key. I'm going to call them back and get instructions, but if anyone else knows the procedure please post it here.

Thanks -- Tom

How did you end up with the red key...owners manual says we only get 2 keys plus one valet key plus two remotes.....did anyone else receive a red key?

I'm not sure where I got it, I just know that I have it. I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the manual.

Actually Sev, I'm starting to think that the key may belong to my 99 Prelude SH I sold recently. Hearing that you got one with your Prelude leads me to think so even more. I'm not going to use it till I find out what the deal is.

Anyone have a manual that makes reference to a learning key?

This is the first I've heard of the 'red key'.. you have something that few have. Let us know the story.

(my car was delivered with only one key and I had to work through more than one visit to get additional keys.. apparently it was not straight forward to the dealership.)

It is apparent to me that they need to flatbed your car to the dealership (with all keys). The ECU needs to be checked out and replaced if necessary and the system needs to be reprogrammed to work with your keys.

This is a warranty issue.. why are you spending so much time on it?

cdelena, it shouldn't matter why, but I'm trying to avoid flatbedding so I don't have to push the car the 100+ feet out to an area in front of my house where it could be towed.

All I was trying to do was look for other options. If all the dealer is going to do is press some button and reset my immobilizer than I can do that at my house. Without having to push it out.

I don't know if it is clear from the pics, but a flatbed would have a hell of a time, 1 fitting between the 2 houses and then through the fence and back to the garage. It's tight in my s2k.

But it looks like I need to call some friends and carefully push the car out.
