Does anyone know what the significance of the red valve cover is?

I assume it may have to do with Honda's racing heritage. All of the Type R's get it, as well as, the NSX and of course the S.

Any ideas?

The NSX didn't get the red valve covers until 1997 when they went to the 3.2 liter engine.

Wouldn't the engine look like it had a yellow streak on it's back?

no seriously, I had mine powdercoated to match my car, IE Spa Yellow. BTW it looks great, I would post pics but I do not have a cylinder head to mount the valve cover on.

Austin_S2000,

I like the cover...but it's not the easiest to clean. I find myself with a toothbrush and some simple green scrubbing every now and then...

Red valve covers date back to the Ferrari "Testarossa" (the original one in the 50s). It had red valve covers hence the name Testarossa, "Red Head" in english. Since the Testarossa was a great race car red valve covers have come to signify performance.

Honda's use of the red valve cover is their way of paying Homage to Ferrari and a great sports car of the past. That and revving to 9000 RPMs of course.
